Two entrepreneurs hope to open a new Loomis taphouse in September.
The business, called Gander Tap House, comes from the husband-and-wife team of Nate and Kim Peters. It will fill 3,500 square feet at 3550 Taylor Road in downtown Loomis. The location is within the building that includes Blue Goose Event Center.
The family-friendly taphouse will offer food and beverages, according to Nate Peters. An application to sell beer and wine at the business has been filed with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
The owners of the business aim to have 30 taps, most of which will be beer. They also plan to have cider and kombucha on tap.
Nate Peters expects the project's costs will extend "well into the six figures." He and his wife have no outside investors. The business will likely employ nine people.
The food menu is still being finalized, but Nate Peters said it will focus on lighter fare. He currently works as a general contractor, and was previously general manager at the former River Rock Cafe in Roseville. He plans to operate the taphouse full time.
He said he saw a market for his concept in Loomis. Not far from Gander's planned location, Loomis Basin Brewing Co. operates a gastropub and smokehouse.
